| 39th Annual Waterville Intown Arts Fest
PLEASE NOTE: After surveying a group of artists who have participated in past years and talking with local businesses and organizations, we have decided to move the Arts Fest date from the last Saturday of July to the previous Saturday in order to coincide with the Maine International Film Festival, which brings hundreds of people to Downtown Waterville AND Colby Museum of Art's Summer Luncheon, which also brings hundreds of art lovers to Waterville. ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is $40 for applications received on or before Thursday, July 3. A late fee of $10 will be added after July 3. Late entries may be accepted until the morning of the show, space permitting. (Refunds will be made only for cancellations made prior to and including July 3.) REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Download the complete rules and registration form. ELIGIBLE FOR DISPLAY INELIGIBLE FOR DISPLAY* * Please note that Arts Fest staff will visit each booth to ensure that no ineligible items are being displayed. Artists will be asked to remove any items that are listed in the “ineligible for display” category. ** Printed images must be reproduced from direct planographic, intaglio or relief methods. Process methods of printmaking representing facsimiles of other fine art media are excluded from all prize considerations. No manufactured or kit objects (i.e. decoupage or ceramics cast from commercial molds) will be accepted for display or competition. Commercial reproduction (i.e. photo offset, letterpress, gravure, color photo/laser copies) of the artist's own work will be allowed only if it represents less than 50% of this display. NO production work or quilting based on traditional designs. Artists may be asked to limit the number of items displayed that do not differ substantially in design. ADDITIONAL PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: A major objective of the Waterville Intown Arts Fest is to bring artists and the public into closer contact. To further this end, artists are expected to have a substantial display and to be present for the majority of the time that the show is open to the public ( 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ). Artists may not enter only for the purchase prize competition without having and attending a display of their original artwork in the show outside PRIZE INFORMATION JURIED PRIZES: Overall Prizes ( Artwork in any medium eligible for inclusion in the show will be considered for these prizes ): Prizes Awarded by Medium: Oils & Acrylics Watercolors Graphics, Drawing, Mixed Media Pastels Photography Acrylic Landscape Special Notes: 3-D Art, including sculpture, will be eligible for the overall prizes, but will not be eligible for the prizes awarded by medium. Photography will be eligible for the overall prizes as well as the $200 Harry Faust Award, but will not be eligible under the “Graphics, Drawing, Mixed Media” category. PURCHASE PRIZES: An as of yet undetermined number of purchase prizes in the amounts of $375 and $200 will be offered. Two levels of Purchase Prizes will be offered in 2008 in order to allow all participating artists the opportunity to submit their work for consideration. In addition to the $375 Purchase Prizes offered in the past, $200 Purchase Prizes will also be made available. The number of prizes at each level is yet to be determined. Each artist will have the opportunity to submit 2 pieces of work for purchase prize consideration. The artist will choose whether to submit 2 pieces at the $200 level, 2 pieces at the $375 level or 1 piece at each level. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.
